Around the Courts: June Newsletter

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Florida heat here in the Panhandle! With the temperatures rising this month, things are heating up here on the courts. Summer camp is in full swing, 4 USTA teams are underway, and all the other tennis and pickleball activities are keeping our courts busy with action. Let’s hope for a break from the heat and storms this upcoming month!

Around the Courts

Court Resurfacing-At the moment, we are currently finishing up the court resurfacing project on courts 8-11 at the facility. We are hoping to have them finished and opened back up to the public by July 3rd. Thank you to everyone from the City of FWB who made this project possible and thank you to all customers for being patient with our limited court availability for the last couple of weeks.

Summer Camp-A big thank you to all our summer camp participants this June! While the weather has not always cooperated, we have had almost sold-out camps each week in June. We will be running camp for all of July and the first week of August. Spots are still available for each week remaining, so sign-up ASAP to secure your spot now!

July Happenings

Friday Night Tennis

We will be hosting our Friday Night Social Doubles on July 14th and 28th. This fun social tennis mixer is geared towards players of all levels, and food and drinks will be served. If you do not have a partner, we can pair up with someone! If you are interested in participating, please reach out to Travis Tressler or the front desk for more information.

Good luck 3.0 Ladies

Congratulations to our 40 & Over 3.0 Women’s team for qualifying for the sectional championship! They had an extremely close and well fought season with Shalimar Pointe, and we are all super excited for them to represent Ft. Walton Beach in Orlando. They will compete the weekend of July 15-17. Good luck ladies, and congrats again on a great season!

June has been a whirlwind of a month, but things are busy as ever here at the tennis center. June was one of our highest participation months since the USTA arrived in Ft. Walton, and we are extremely lucky to serve this community here at FWBTC. Thank you to all our tennis and pickleball players for their continued support of the facility, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that you all have a great experience each and every time you are here. Can’t wait to see you all out on the courts!
